Applies to the OOF app and ooflink.com
Privacy Policy
The short version
- Other users never see who sent an anonymous answer.
- We collect only what OOF needs to work and stay safe. We never sell your data.
- No ads tracking you around the internet, and no behavioural tracking or targeted ads for anyone under 18.
- You can see, correct or delete your data, or delete your whole account, at any time.
This summary is here to help. The full text below is what applies.
1. Who we are
[Company legal name] ("OOF", "we", "us") runs the OOF mobile app and the website ooflink.com (together, the "Service"). For the purposes of the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 ("DPDP Act"), we are the Data Fiduciary for the personal data described here.
This policy applies to both the app and the website.
2. What we collect
Information you give us
- Account details: username, [phone number / email address — confirm login method], date of birth or age confirmation, and an optional profile photo.
- Content: questions, answers, reactions, reposts, and photos or videos you add.
- Messages you send us, such as reports, complaints or support requests.
- For users under 18: details of the parent or guardian who gives consent.
Information collected automatically
- Device and app information: device type, operating system, app version, language, and a device identifier.
- Log and safety information: connection details (such as your network address), date and time of activity, and crash reports, used to keep OOF secure and prevent abuse.
- If you allow notifications, a push-notification token.
The website
ooflink.com does not use advertising or analytics cookies, and does not load third-party trackers. Like any website, our servers record basic request logs (connection details such as network address, browser type, page requested) for security, kept for [30 days].
3. How anonymity works
When you answer someone's question, they don't see your name, username or profile. We don't show answer senders to other users and we don't offer paid "hints" about who sent something.
To keep OOF safe, we do keep limited technical information linked to answers (such as device and connection details). It is used only to stop abuse, enforce our rules, and comply with the law, and it is not shown to other users.
4. How we use your data
- to create and run your account and show your questions, answers and stats;
- to deliver answers and notifications;
- to detect, block and review harmful content and abuse, and to enforce our Terms;
- to fix bugs and improve the Service, using aggregated or de-identified data where possible;
- to respond to your requests and complaints;
- to comply with legal obligations, including lawful requests from authorities.
We process your data based on your consent, which you give when you sign up, and, where the DPDP Act allows, for legitimate uses such as complying with the law and responding to emergencies. You can withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account; this won't affect processing that already happened.
5. Children and teens
OOF is for users aged 13 and up. Under Indian law, anyone under 18 is a child, so we require verifiable consent from a parent or lawful guardian before processing a child's personal data.
We do not track, behaviourally monitor or show targeted advertising to users under 18, and we don't process their data in ways likely to harm their wellbeing.
If we learn we've collected data from someone under 13, or from a child without required consent, we will delete it. Parents can contact us at [privacy@ooflink.com].
7. Where your data is stored
Your data is stored on servers in [India — OCI region, e.g. Mumbai/Hyderabad]. If we transfer data outside India, we will do so only as permitted under the DPDP Act.
8. How long we keep data
- Account data and content: while your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your data within [30 days].
- Safety and log data: up to [180 days], or longer if needed to investigate abuse.
- Data we must keep by law, such as information related to a legal order or investigation: for the period the law requires.
9. How we protect your data
We use encryption in transit (HTTPS), access controls, and limits on who in our team can see personal data. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and will notify you and the Data Protection Board of India of any personal data breach as the law requires.
10. Your rights
Under the DPDP Act you can:
- get a summary of the personal data we hold about you and how it's processed;
- correct, complete or update your data;
- erase your data, including by deleting your account;
- withdraw your consent;
- nominate someone to exercise these rights if you die or become unable to;
- raise a grievance with us.
To use these rights, go to [Settings → Privacy] in the app or email [privacy@ooflink.com]. We may need to verify your identity first.
11. Deleting your account
Delete your account in the app at [Settings → Account → Delete account], or email [hey@ooflink.com] from the contact linked to your account.
12. Grievances
If you have a concern about how we handle your data, contact our Grievance Officer:
We'll acknowledge your complaint within 24 hours and aim to resolve it within 15 days. If you're not satisfied, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. If the changes are significant, we'll tell you in the app or on the website before they take effect, and ask for your consent again where the law requires.
